Chapter 1642. Talk With The Guardians.
by MortrexoThe area they arrived in was isolated from the rest of the participants. In the first place, since Yasenia’s group was participating, the rest of the participants falling into a background position was nothing but a matter of course.
So, without bothering much with the rest, the eight Guardians manipulated the formations and expelled everyone else. The trial had long been completed, and the eight spots were filled by Yasenia, her girls, and Xyrona as the representatives of the maids.
Xyrona, appearance-wise, was heroic and muscular. She was somewhat taller than Yasenia, standing 190 centimeters tall, with short brown hair and purple eyes. Her maid dress was somewhat wild as well, showing her defined midriff and arms. The edges of the maid outfit were laced with furry animal hide, giving her a somewhat wild, barbarian beauty.
As a refresher, Xyrona was the one Yasenia mimicked most while developing her battle style when she was young. The maid used a sword taller than herself, and yet it didn’t look mismatched due to her perfectly structured, sturdy, yet feminine body. She was also the “culprit” behind Yasenia’s habit of burying her dears in her ample bosom because Xyrona did so a lot when praising Yasenia when she was young.
In terms of pure battle strength, Xyrona was strong enough to face Anna and Eve together for a long while. She would not win the match, but she could still fight them for a while. So, while Anna and Eve were strongest among the maids when fighting together, individually, Xyrona took the crown.
The guardians also couldn’t help but look at Xyrona because she had been able to defeat the Golden Giant while suffering grievous wounds. Nevertheless, the fact that Xyrona defeated it, while many other maids came incredibly close to it, was something they found incomprehensible.
‘Why are these extraordinary women following a single woman as maids? If they separated, riches and boundless fame would pour on them like spring’s first rains.’
Still, when they glanced at Yasenia, who had pummeled the Golden Giant until only scrap remained, they couldn’t help but understand a little.
Yasenia decided to take a seat at a random chair around the circular table and take the lead. “So, we are here. Can you eight pull down your cloaks? I don’t really feel comfortable speaking further if you keep hiding your faces.”
The eight of them moved toward the eight main-looking chairs of the 16 and also sat down. Clearly, this table was created to converse between new and old guardians.
The girls, noticing as well, sat on their posts, leaving only one chair free. “Will that lady sit as well?”
Xyrona glanced at them with emotionless, purple eyes. “You want me, a maid, to share a table with Young Miss? Know your place.”
Yasenia chuckled. Her maids were lovely when dealing with her, but once someone who was not her or her lovers interacted with them, their way of speaking was adorably harsh. Well, at least for her, it sounded adorable.
Also, Yasenia didn’t mind at all sitting together with her maids. However, there needed to be a sense of hierarchy for proper respect to bloom between them. She adored her maids, and she would leave her life in their hands without hesitation, but they were still her maids.
Courtesy between a master and their maids clearly stated that a maid shouldn’t sit at the same table as their master. Yasenia had no intention of forcing them to break their beliefs and temperament just to appear approachable and magnanimous.
Leaning back, Yasenia sank her head below Xyrona’s large breasts, almost using them as a hat. “Speak with me first. The rest will interrupt if they have something to say.”
The guardians didn’t push further. Instead, they all touched their cloaks and made them disappear. The eight individuals who showed were extraordinary. All of them were rather good-looking men and women, four and four.
Their clothes were still unusual, being tight-fitting combat robes with elegant markings. It was a fashion somewhat detached from the usual cultures Yasenia was accustomed to, but it looked quite fashionable.
A man spoke up, taking the lead. “My name is Wu Tiansheng. I am acting as the current leader of the Eight Guardians with the duty to protect the world.”
Yasenia nodded. “My name is Yasenia Dravory. A wanderer who came across a map by chance and decided to investigate with the desire for treasures. Sadly, I got entangled in a mess I didn’t want to be part of.”
Yasenia’s words caused Wu Tiansheng’s eyebrows to imperceptibly twitch, but he didn’t overreact. “Then, I will call you Miss Yasenia from now on.”
Yasenia corrected gently. “Madam would be better. I am married.”
Wu Tiansheng nodded. “Madam Yasenia, you might not know all the details, so I will explain them from now on.”
The story he told was similar to the one she had heard from Han Luan, the original guardian of the Han family. The enemies they faced, the catastrophe caused by greed, and the source being an Abyssal Human. Everything lined up, causing Yasenia to sigh. ‘If it were any other disaster, I would’ve honestly ignored it and gone my way. There are absolutely no gains in solving this mess. However, the opponent is an Abyssal Human.’
All beings from the [Abyss] needed to be culled from the roots, or an infestation would spread like a malignant tumor. If not careful, there was even a chance of the [Abyss] swallowing an entire Heavenly Layer.
The fact that it had not happened yet was due to the combined effort and coordination of several powers focused on dealing with these disaster-class creatures.
Yasenia decided to express her thoughts. “It is something we can’t ignore. However, we have absolutely no intention of taking on the role of guardians or anything similar. First, before we continue, I want to ask if we can see or approach the area with the sealed Abyssal Human.”
Wu Tiansheng showed a faintly troubled look. “That’s… impossible.”
Yasenia blinked and asked, confused. “Why is it impossible? Is the seal unreachable?”
“No. That’s not it… It’s just that only those marked with the Guardian Soul Trace can approach that area. Anyone else would be attacked. This is a precaution used by the first guardians to guard against those mimic monsters.”
Yasenia understood and frowned. “Soul marking… It’s something quite unpleasant.”
It was not that she didn’t trust them, but… she just disliked anything that could touch her soul. After almost being taken over by the Sun and Moon Deities, Yasenia developed a sense of absolute repulsion toward anything that had to do with touching her soul. Unless it was her lovers or maids, Yasenia would never allow others to see or touch her soul easily.
Something she was thankful about was that there was no one here with the Sun God’s bloodline. If there had been anyone, trouble would’ve followed. ‘Well, Tai Qingzhe could overcome the aversion, so I know it’s not absolute for people with low blood concentration…’
Refocusing on the matter at hand, Yasenia looked at them and commented. “Still, we do have the orb with the Monster Matriarch, don’t we? Can’t we use that to go and take a look?”
Wu Tiansheng smiled wryly. “That’s even less possible.”
Yasenia sighed, and Anna stepped forward. “Young Miss, how about letting eight of us take those marks?”
Yasenia flicked her long dragon tail, flicking her forehead. “Do you think I will allow something I wouldn’t allow on myself in my dear maids? Anna, you will be spanked later, so prepare yourself.”
Anna blinked and blushed a bit. Some of the maids lamented that they were not the ones to make the suggestion. ‘Young Miss’s spanking… ehehe.’
“Alright. Tell me this at least. How are the guardians responsible when it comes to dealing with the Abyssal Human?”
This time, the woman who looked somewhat ethereal and had white hair spoke up. “I, Murong Xianyu, will explain.”
Yasenia turned to look at her, and the woman met her eyes with a calm expression. That calmness made Yasenia feel her extraordinariness. “Madam Yasenia, we, the eight guardians, were supposed to be the ones to face the catastrophe together with the chosen one.”
Yasenia’s eyebrows gently furrowed. “Chosen one… If you used those words, there must be some kind of prophecy.”
The woman nodded. “That’s right. The prophecy spoke of a bright soul who would come and erase the hidden darkness. However, the dates are mismatched with your appearance.”
Yasenia grumbled. “I really don’t like prophecies or anything of the like. Sigh…” Then, she looked at Murong Xianyu. “Also, it is normal to be mismatched. I have long since cut ties with my predetermined fate. Therefore, my appearance here is not planned by the Heavens but purely coincidental.”
The woman nodded calmly. “That is so. I did know you were a Fate Breaker. My instincts told me that if I tried to divine you, I would have received a strong backlash.”
Tatyana spoke with a faint smile. “You are lucky and have a good temperament. If you had been greedy, you would not be speaking with us here today.”
Even an Eighth Realm cultivator found it terrifyingly difficult to manipulate Yasenia’s fate when she was a mortal. Now that Yasenia had managed to surpass her predetermined fate of being consumed by the Moon and Sun Gods and reached immortality, trying to manipulate her through Fate techniques was tantamount to suicide.
Not even Tatyana would dare to do it unless it was a matter of life and death.
Looking at Tatyana, the white-haired woman blinked. “Madam Tatyana is a Fate Reader as well.”
“I was such a being a while ago. Also, don’t call me madam; it sounds too old. I prefer Lady.”
Murong Xianyu nodded. “I will, Lady Tatyana.”
Yasenia chuckled, and Murong Xianyu continued. “As I was saying, the predetermined person would be able to share our burden by using the Honor Dagger he crafts. However, we are unsure if the Honor Dagger Madam Yasenia crafted will be useful.”
“Honor Dagger…? Ah.” Yasenia summoned the draconic dagger she crafted before. “This item?”
Murong Xianyu nodded. “That’s it. The Honor Dagger, when crafted, imprints the very essence of the individual in it. One can use that to filter faulty personality traits among many other functions. If we present your dagger and it rejects it, the zone might close up in warning.”
Yasenia couldn’t help but accept their behavior now. They were probably flustered and also somewhat annoyed at the uncertainty that she had brought. There was a saying that went, “Better the familiar poison than the unknown cure.”
While Yasenia didn’t really feel this was healthy or truthful, she did see the plight behind it.
“Then… What do you suggest?”
Murong Xianyu spoke with an awkward smile. “We suggest the Guardian Mark. Our mark doesn’t disappear because yours is cast. So, we can enter the area and check the situation together without problems.”
Yasenia groaned and leaned back, resting her head between Xyrona’s ample bosom. ‘What to do…?’
